The Hershey Chocolate Company was founded in 1894 by Milton Hershey, to produce chocolate for covering his caramel candies. Six years later, the company was producing milk chocolate wafers, bars, and other confections. The Industrial Revolution meant that Milton Hershey was able to keep his production costs down. Milk chocolate used to be something only the wealthy could afford but Hershey’s lower prices meant that at last everybody could enjoy its wonderful flavor.
